Vanessa White



Vanessa began playing the violin at the age of seven. She quickly decided that she would like to follow in her parents’ footsteps and become a musician.

Vanessa was taught by her father, Christopher White while attending Oakham School and later Loughborough High School in the sixth form. She held music scholarships at both institutions. During her school years Vanessa was a violinist in the National Youth Music Theatre and National Youth String Orchestra where she was able to perform in venues such as the Sage, Gateshead and Kings Place, London. She appeared as a concerto soloist performing works such as Dvorak's Romance and Saint-Saens Rondo Capriccioso and won various prizes in music competitions.

Vanessa recently completed her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Czech violinist, Pavel Fischer. In her time there she has enjoyed the opportunity to perform in masterclasses given by violinists such as Levon Chilingirian, Yair Kless and Mauricio Fuks. She has performed as part of the RNCM Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Session Orchestra.

Vanessa is passionate about performing chamber music. She plays with the Alegría Piano Trio which formed at the RNCM in 2015, since then the Trio have enjoyed regular lessons with the Elias Quartet, Trio Gaspard, Leonard Elschenbroich, Emma Ferrand and Jeremy Young and were finalists in the RNCM Hirsch Competition 2017. Vanessa has performed movements from the Mendelssohn Octet with the Elias Quartet at the RNCM. She also plays with Romanian pianist Radu Prisada in a duo.

Vanessa has been closely involved in the Great Bowden Music Fest throughout its history performing concertos with the Great Bowden Camerata such as Vivaldi’s ‘Summer’ from the Four Seasons in 2016 and Schubert's Rondo in A major in 2017. As well as lots of chamber music works with prominent musicians who play in orchestras such as the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zürich. Repertoire she has performed include: Schubert String Quintet, Tchaikovsky 'Souvenir de Florence', Dvorak Piano Quintet and more.

Vanessa is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Festival Fresco with composer Natasha Sofla which saw the first festival premiere in Atrincham, Manchester in 2019. She is also dedicated into promoting positive mindsets in musician's daily lives and writes a blog about this as well as her own violinistic journey. To find out more visit: 

Vanessa has recently been accepted to the Berlin Opera Academy, where she has also been awarded the Lily Niblock memorial scholarship. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this project has been cancelled until summer 2021. From September 2020, Vanessa is looking forward to working at Rugby School as a graduate musician for the year. She will be gaining experience teaching and coaching within a school environment.
