'Be your own best teacher'

9th November 2019

Hello! Its time for another episode of Vanessa the Violinist!

The days are getting shorter again and its starting to get colder outside which I don’t know about you but I find sad… So what to do instead? Stay positive, get into a cosy warm room, get snuggly and PRACTICE!

As I face the first winter away from education and spending some time developing on my own, I’ve realised just how important it is more than ever to keep calm and have a positive mindset.

I’ve always been told that you are your own best teacher but I’ve just worked out how this is so true and extremely important All the knowledge that you accumulate from others around you over years will help guide you towards being able to use your own mind effectively and with a calm attitude you can achieve anything.

I’ve been enjoying being my own teacher while learning a range of sonatas, concertos and studies and I look forward to seeing how I progress over the coming year.

As I start to prepare for auditions things will get busier but I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved myself in the past few months since finishing music college and can’t wait to see the progress that I can make.

I’d love to hear your own experience of staying calm and being your own best teacher.

Let me know in the comments section below.

See you next time :)
